In response to the proposed overhaul of NEPA regulations, APA urged the Trump administration not to abandon federal environmental reviews that safeguard communities and taxpayers from uncertainty, risk, and unnecessary costs. APA released a joint statement last week together with the Association of State Floodplain Managers. Stay tuned for advocacy opportunities on this issue.

Despite potential federal regulatory changes, we remain committed to helping states and communities make infrastructure development decisions that benefit everyone. In support of this goal, APA recently released new research — Planning for Infrastructure Resilience — that provides guidance on innovative local approaches that balance public protection with efficiency.

News of APA and ASFPM's joint statement was covered by the Associated Press last week among several other local and regional publications.

Creating a disaster recovery guide for planners

Even the most prepared communities will face unique challenges in the wake of a disaster. To better support planners, APA and the Hazard Reduction and Recovery Center at Texas A&M University partnered on phase one of a project to develop a tactical disaster recovery guide. The phase one findings were recently released — learn what planners need to know about disaster recovery and how APA is working to better support them in these efforts.
