Provides professional level assistance to Planning and Code Enforcement staff and the public with a strong emphasis on public counter activities, code enforcement, and planning.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties will primarily include providing Planning customer service at the public counter. Services include but are not limited to: providing zoning and application information at the public counter and over the telephone; respond to citizen zoning inquiries; take in new projects and process discretionary applications as assigned; issue various zoning permits, and maintain a variety of land use data and statistics. Training will be provided in all areas of the Community Development Department necessary to complete the required assignments, including General Plan consistency, zoning regulations, environmental review, plan review, Department procedures, and public information, computers, and file systems.
The Technician will also provide assistance to Code Enforcement staff. Services will include but are not limited to: providing information to the public on nuisance and Zoning ordinance requirements and compliance; draft notice(s) of violation to property owners to achieve compliance by voluntary agreement; when necessary, issue warnings and citations; locate owners’ of properties using maps and other public records. The Technician may perform inspections of code violations relating to nuisances and zoning code requirements; assists in the monitoring of sites for compliance and conducting follow-up investigations. Organizes field notes, detailed written reports and routine correspondences for Code Enforcement Officers and Specialists; maintains inspection files and records; attends meetings as appropriate.
