Regional Practice Lead and Principal Scientist/Planner/Restoration Engineer

Then we are looking for you! NCE is actively recruiting for a Principal level professional to lead our Watershed Science & Planning (WS&P) Group in Northern California. We are looking for a "leader/seller/doer" who can inspire, manage and guide all aspects of our WS&P practice in Northern California. The ideal candidate is innately strategic in their approach, an analytical problem solver, and possess the ability to put thoughts into words and actions. They are naturally goal-oriented, driven to succeed, love to inspire those around them and thrive in problem-solving.
The position is expected to guide strategic thinking and implementation within the marketplace, guide and mentor staff, recognize and resolve issues and provide a vision for the practice. The "leader" and manager responsibilities include mentoring and supervising staff, setting strategic direction, overseeing workload planning, developing and reporting on annual business plans and ensuring the financial viability of the practice. The "seller" element includes working collaboratively with senior technical and business development staff to identifying and securing new work and clients to sustain and grow the practice. The "doer" element of the position includes managing clients, managing projects, providing quality control and delivering technical work.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15 years of experience, preferably with a consulting practice, in the fields of watershed science, environmental planning, urban or regional planning, restoration ecology or engineering, water resource science or engineering, regulatory permitting, natural resource management, geology or hydrology. Need to demonstrate success with leadership, management, supervisory and business development responsibilities. Knowledge of the Northern California market for WS&P, and active relationships with clients highly desirable.
