The City of San Leandro is recruiting for an entry-level Project Specialist I in the Economic Development Division. San Leandro is completing a new Economic Development Strategy with a focus on recruiting innovative businesses and retailers and supporting workers and small businesses. Typical duties include business assistance, development assistance, program implementation, project and program evaluation, and partner recruitment. Language proficiency in Cantonese or Spanish is desired though not required.
A successful candidate will be an enthusiastic go-getter that has a passion to better the community and help small businesses get involved and give back. Key attributes of a competitive candidate include a desire to learn, effective communication skills both orally and in writing, strong analytical skills, and an ability to collaborate and connect individuals toward a greater goal.
Education and Experience Guidelines: Any combination equivalent to experience and education that would most likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public policy, business/finance, public administration, economics, sociology, urban/regional planning or a closely-related field and one year of related experience in economic development, community development or a related area performing duties involving program development, administration, project and program evaluation and monitoring, capital improvement, and revitalization.

Salary Range: $8,139 - $9,893/monthly
