Green Building

The city’s code of ordinances adopts green development standards that use the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification system. It requires commercial and public development between 500 and 5,000 square feet receive LEED Certified certification (§17.34.020) and any such development above 5,000 square feet receive LEED Silver certification (§17.34.010).

Small Wireless Facilities and Wireless Facilities in the ROW

The city's municipal code addresses standards for antennas/personal wireless telecommunication facilities as a specific land use. It provides general requirements as well as additional standards for all new telecommunications facilities located within public rights-of-way (§17.12.050.E). Provisions address ordinance intent; application content; aesthetic, locational, and safety guidelines; required findings; and conditions of approval.   

Solar Energy

The city's municipal code provides design standards for solar energy collectors, including location and screening requirements, color, and installation angle (§17.20.190).
