The city's property maintenance code includes an ordinance regulating the keeping of chickens within the city (§7.244). It provides definitions and allows for up to 4 hens to be kept in the rear yards of single-family residential lots. The code addresses coop construction and maintenance, confinement, location of coop or run, feed storage, and waste management. An annual residential chicken permit must be obtained from the city.
