The city's codified ordinances define and regulate tiny houses on foundations as single-family dwelling units.

Its building code defines defines "tiny house" as a dwelling unit with less than 400 ft2 (§10-36). Standards address ceiling height, loft requirements, and compliance with the international residential code.

Its zoning code stipulates that tiny houses are permitted wherever single-family residential uses are permitted (§14-695(b)(1)k).

Food Systems | Urban Livestock

The city code's animal chapter was amended in 2013 and 2015 to address the keeping of fowl in the city (Article 6-5). The code allows the keeping of up to four hens for each single-family dwelling in all zones with a permit from the animal services department. Roosters and slaughtering are prohibited; standards address enclosures, setbacks, sanitation. There are no limits on chicken numbers in the agricultural zone.
