The village code's animal chapter was amended in 2013 to address residential beekeeping (Article 18-4). An annual permit is required; application requirements include proof of insurance coverage, training course completion, written consent of abutting neighbors, and hold harmless agreement (§18.81). Other code provisions address inspections, beehive type, apiary maintenance (including water source), aggressive behavior, location and setbacks, fencing and flyways, signage, and permit revocation.
