Urban Forestry

Research has shown that trees in cities aid in stormwater runoff reduction, mitigate the urban heat island effect, and sequester carbon. There are many ways that communities and planners can foster an urban forest.

The Green Communities Research Center and APA bring you relevant research and information related to urban forestry, such as Planning the Urban Forest (PAS Report 555), the June 2008 issue of Zoning Practice "Better Foliage Through Zoning," and the March-April 2005 PAS Memo "Environmental Benefits of Trees in Urban Areas."
