How does planning shape your community?
Community Planning Assistance Teams
APA's professional institute, the American Institute of Certified Planners, organizes volunteer planning teams based upon community needs. Communities can apply to have a Community Planning Assistance Team (CPAT) come to bolster existing planning initiatives or help guide a community forward.

Community Assistance Workshops
Each year at APA's National Planning Conference, attendees volunteer their time to work with community leaders, citizens and planners in discussing and proposing specific solutions to urban planning challenges.
Are you a planning commissioner in your community? APA has a variety of resources available to help you. From online training to quarterly publications, learn how to serve your community. Planning commissioners or your entire commission can become members of APA.
Encourage a future generation of planners and inspire civic engagement. Materials are available for teachers, parents and community leaders. Host a scavenger hunt, meet planners and learn about the areas of specialization within the profession from transportation to environmental planning.
