Enjoy lunch at Inspiration Kitchens in East Garfield Park, and learn how this nonprofit is helping economically disadvantaged individuals gain valuable experience for securing employment in the food service industry. The restaurant was named on The Chicago Reader’s “Best of Chicago 2012” list. Completing its transformation from abandoned manufacturing facility to state-of-the art restaurant and training kitchen in 2011, this LEED gold-certified facility continues to receive regional and national awards. A tour highlighting its LEED features and design challenges will help participants better understand this innovative model for revitalizing struggling neighborhoods. Transportation: Public, walking.
