In session one of the neighborhood planning daylong forum, planners asses the current state of neighborhood planning. Just as there’s no universal definition of neighborhood, there’s also no single approach to neighborhood planning; planning can be “bottom up,” or municipally coordinated. Hear from planners in cities that have strong neighborhood planning programs — Atlanta, Seattle, and Austin, Texas. Explore the history and practice of these notable programs as well as examine the role of various stakeholders. Hear what planners see as the value of neighborhood to planning.
