Interactive Session

These sessions will engage and draw you into a full interactive learning experience. Come to listen and contribute to transformative ideas and solutions. Some sessions include audience polling, so be sure to bring your mobile device to join the conversation.

Ignite Session

Looking to take in a mix of topics? Come experience eight to 10 speakers deliver a series of 5-minute presentations built to spark ideas in a quick but meaningful way. Each speaker will deliver a fast-paced presentation in way that both informs and entertains.

Panel Discussion Session

Learn from industry leaders who offer thought-provoking analyses of topics from different angles and diverse perspectives. These sessions present effective solutions and best practices that can be used to address current and emerging issues in the planning profession.

Storytelling Session

Storytelling sessions bring together three speakers who will each deliver their thought-provoking reflections through the use of storytelling. Using imagery and the power of stories, these session speakers will present personal creative solutions to issues affecting planning professionals.

Spotlight Session

APA shines the spotlight on topics of keen contemporary interest to the national planning community with the promise to move the discussion forward — even after the session ends. Bring your mobile device to join the conversation.

Mobile Workshops and Orientation Tours

Head out on mobile workshops to see cutting-edge planning around Houston. Get an up close and personal view of Houston on a bus orientation tour led by local planners.


Conference tracks cover multiple aspects of important and emerging topics. This year's track topics range from affordable housing to new technologies.
