WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
- How historic preservation practices and safety concerns impact an aging city
- How a growing city impacts the supply of affordable housing, from the perspective of New Orleans homeowners and local professionals
- What it takes to restore homes by providing hands-on and critical repairs to homeowners who would otherwise be unable to afford the much-needed assistance
MORE SESSION DETAILS
Rebuilding Together New Orleans (RTNO) brings volunteers and communities together to provide safe and healthy homes for everyone. Get your hands dirty with RTNO and the Urban Design and Preservation Division and give back while engaging with program staff and homeowners on the issue of affordable housing in a city where historic preservation is both a challenge and a cultural treasure, and gentrification threatens the solidity of deeply rooted communities. You'll receive an orientation and training for the day’s tasks from RTNO while learning about their efforts to help homeowners age in place.
