MORE SESSION DETAILS

During this interactive audience discussion, hosts Mary Riemer and Katasi Kulubya will present their approach to user experience and how it relates to transit and mobility. Mary has worked in transportation for more than 10 years, leveraging her inside knowledge of transit agencies and traditional service planning alongside her research focused on data and the future of mobility. Katasi is a user experience expert with a deep understanding of human behavior, research methods, and digital design. She brings her cross-cutting industry knowledge to the transportation ecosystem. Transit agencies are faced with declining ridership, shrinking operational workforces, and outdated workflow processes - leading to poor communication, data collection, and day-to-day challenges. How might an "inside-out" approach to technology innovation improve both sides of the transit ecosystem? Together, Mary and Katasi combine their expertise to provide solutions. This session is intended for individuals working with or within transit agencies who want to better understand their customers, ridership, or what the future approach to technology innovation in transit looks like. Attendees will participate in exercises previously reserved for digital user experience and will learn how they can apply knowledge gained to the entire transportation journey and increase the competitiveness of transit.
