WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

  • How to address the most current challenges facing urban industrial-campus planning and design in the United States
  • Design and planning tools that multiple stakeholders (nonprofits, city agencies, quasi-governmental authorities, design firms) can harness to support urban industrial-campus growth
  • How to connect economic development and thoughtful urban design and placemaking

MORE SESSION DETAILS

Manufacturing businesses are expanding in urban environments for the first time in decades. National and global trends are causing the manufacturing playing field to “level” – enabling the rebound of an important blue-collar job sector in cities across the United States. To seize this moment, cities must find a way to build industrial uses more intelligently into the heart of urban environments. Explore the ongoing activation-planning process to upgrade the Brooklyn Army Terminal, the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Kearny Point in New Jersey, and in New Orleans.
