MORE SESSION DETAILS

Designed for anyone interested in implementing neighborhood scale sustainability, this interactive workshop will provide a hands-on opportunity to learn about the principles of sustainable planning, design, and construction using LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED ND) as a framework. Professional practitioners, students, and others interested in optimizing sustainability at the neighborhood scale will learn best practices in neighborhood planning and design drawn from the disciplines of smart growth, new urbanism, and green building, and how they are supported through the LEED ND rating system. Community leaders and advocates can use this exercise as an assessment of their neighborhoods through the lenses of transportation, access, economy, and infrastructure. A case study of a local development project will provide insight into applying the principles of sustainability at the neighborhood level.
