WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

  • How to identify common challenges and solutions for creating low-carbon pathways for large cities
  • Climate-action strategies for each area of city planning (land use/zoning, transportation, social equity) that contributes to greenhouse-gas reductions and economic viability
  • How climate planning is a new driver for integrated city planning rather than a side issue

MORE SESSION DETAILS

What does the anatomy of a low-carbon pathway for a big city actually look like? Gain an insider's look at how New York City and Toronto created leading-edge climate-action plans, including the processes, methods, assumptions, and insights used to form these plans. Panelists include the staff, experts, and consultants who made these plans happen, all intimately familiar with the surprises that erupt along the low-carbon planning pathway. How do targets work effectively? What can modeling actually tell you? How can we bring equity into the planning process meaningfully? These speakers will address these questions using a compare-and-contrast approach that will give you a deeper and more insightful look at what makes up an effective low-carbon pathway for a big city. Storytelling will highlight the dilemmas and challenges each city faced.
