Solar Energy

The village's municipal zode permits solar energy systems in all districts, defining and providing standards for these uses. Solar Energy System is defined within the code including specific definitions for roof-mounted, wall-mounted, and ground-mounted systems (§28-3-131).

Solar Energy Systems are permitted in all zoning districts; the exception is ground- and wall-mounted systems in the B-5 district (§28-5.5-2). Ground-mounted systems are permitted rear-yard obstructions in residential districts; wall-mounted systems are permitted side and rear-yard obstructions in residential districts; both systems are permitted front, side, and rear-yard obstructions in nonresidential districts (§28-6.6-5.2).

The municipal code provides development standards for solar energy systems, covering heights, setbacks, locations, etc. Ground-mounted systems are limited to 200 square feet of surface area (§28-6.17-2).
