Solar Energy

The township's zoning ordinance includes definitions and use regulations for Solar Electric Facilities, which are permitted uses in the Residential Rural and Residential Low Density districts (§140-5; §140-7.B.1; §140-8.B.1). They require a building permit and a land use permit. Standards address lighting, advertising, fencing and securing, warning signs, impacts, and setbacks. A decommissioning plan is required, and the facility should be sited to minimize the necessity of removing existing trees on the site (§140-21.D).
