Food Systems | Urban Agriculture

This compendium of standalone policies include recommendations that support community gardens and urban farms. In the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space element, Goal 5 is to support and promote the reuse of vacant land for community and school gardens and urban agriculture. Policies address developing a city urban agriculture plan, exploring urban agribusiness and agritourism development, strengthening programs that promote use of vacant land for urban ag, and supporting school gardens.

In addition, Policy 2.5 connected with Goal 2 in the Health and Social Services element to improve physical fitness and diets calls for encouraging community gardens to increase availability of fresh produce.
