Accessory Dwelling Units

This report analyzes opportunities to address common regulatory and financial barriers to expanding the production and occupancy of accessory dwelling units (ADUs). Individual sections address discretionary review processes, occupancy restrictions, off-street parking requirements, setbacks, minimum lot size requirements, limits on the size and number of units, design standards, impact fees and utility connections, statewide reforms in California, and lending products.
