Urban Heat Resilience

The city’s zoning code establishes standards to reduce urban heat islands in the Central Business District (§4.4.13.(F)(9)). Developments within this district should provide shade on at least 30 non-roof impervious surfaces or use light-colored materials for 30 percent on non-roofed impervious surfaces. Developments should also include roofing solutions that reduce the effects of urban heat islands.
