Climate Change

The city’s codified ordinances address climate change. It establishes a Climate Resilience Committee to help the city prepare for issues related to a changing climate (§2-1271). Its Green Initiatives code has provisions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to enhance and protect open spaces (§22.5).

Urban Heat Resilience

The city’s land development code addresses urban heat. It requires commercial and noncommercial parking lots to be constructed with high albedo materials to reduce the urban heat island effect (§130-69.3).
