Unified Development Code Update - Emerging Industries

City of Edgerton, Kansas

Edgerton, KS

The City of Edgerton is located in the southwest corner of Johnson County, a suburb of the Kansas City metropolitan area.  With approximately 1,900 residents, Edgerton is a growing community where families want to live and neighbors know each other.  Edgerton defines itself as the unique juxtaposition of a small town with strong community values and a world-class inland port with direct connection to the global supply chain at Logistics Park Kansas City (LPKC).

The City is hereby soliciting proposals from interested firms to provide Unified Development Code amendments related to emerging industries in the planning field. There are several new categories of land uses that are increasing in development nationwide. These emerging industries could include, but are not limited to, uses such as data centers, battery energy storage systems, energy production facilities and vertical farming.

In advance of this effort, the City is conducting a community engagement campaign to identify these uses and engage the Edgerton residents regarding challenges and opportunities around these emerging industries. That community engagement campaign will serve as the foundation for this effort.
