Solar Energy

The county's zoning code addresses solar energy systems (§29.8). It permits accessory and principal use rooftop and ground-mounted solar energy systems in all zoning districts, except the floodplain district, by right. Solar energy systems are permitted as conditional uses in the floodplain district. Height, setback, and coverage requirement exceptions may be authorized through the variance process.

The code also establishes a process for protecting solar access rights for systems in residential districts.
