Solar Energy

The city's building code establishes standards for small rooftop solar energy systems (§8.29).

The city's zoning code stipulates that trees and shrubs must be planted so that at maturity they do not interfere with the right of solar access (§36.34.10.h).

Solar collectors are exempt from zoning permit requirements provided that they are located on ground level and screened from ground level public view or, if roof-mounted, are mounted at approximately the same angle as the roof (§36.05.50.k).
