Even in 1997, a bounty of information and function was available online, but the Internet was vast and complicated — unless planners knew how and where to look. Whether planners were searching searching for simple text files with illustrative maps and graphics or interactive zoning and plan maps connected to sophisticated databases, this report showed the way.
In this report, topics include housing, transportation, environment, jobs, and technologies such as GIS. They are divided into functional subsections that are easy to find and navigate. More than 900 sites are categorized and cross-referenced. Two appendices feature comprehensive directories of mailing lists and newsgroups that cover planning-related topics circa 1997.
