The "Purpose" section of the RFP is as follows:

Gaston Together and Gaston County Government are soliciting proposals from qualified consultants with a minimum ten years' experience in assisting communities develop a long term community vision.

The desired objective is to create a bold and relevant Vision for Gaston County which defines a future state that inspires commitment and implementation by local governments, non-profits, the faith community, the business community, and residents. The vision will include a manageable number of objectives and lay out a clear methodology for measurement and continued implementation.

The firm must have an adaptable methodology for community engagement and dialogue, for establishing community vision objectives and measures, recent experience in tailoring a process to local variables, and a verifiable performance record of successfully developing implementable visions for other communities similar in size and nature.

A Steering Committee will oversee the execution of this project. Additionally, an on-site Work Team will oversee and coordinate day-to-day activities necessary to effectively execute the process under the direction/guidance of the Steering Committee and in coordination with the Vision Consultant and other members of the team.

Effective communication and coordination will be key to the success of this project.

It is anticipated this project will be a community wide effort that will take between twelve and eighteen months with work by the selected Vision Consultant beginning in early calendar year 2021.
