Brailsford and Dunlavey is seeking a project intern to join our team in Prince George's County, MD. Are you ambitious and resourceful? The internship will have an opportunity to contribute to the development of recreation facilities and programs while gaining hands-on experience in urban planning, community engagement, and project management. A project intern will support activities such as: research and data analysis, stakeholder engagement, plan development, and preparing documents and presentations.

Position Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on recreation buildings, analyze demographic data, and assess community needs and preferences regarding recreational facilities and programs.
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating meetings with stakeholders and community members to gather input and feedback for the master planning process.
  • Contribute to the development of documents and deliverables by drafting sections related to facility development, programming recommendations, and implementation strategies.
  • Interface and collaborate with engineering and architectural specialties during the project process.
  • Prepare presentations, reports, and other materials to communicate recommendations to stakeholders and the public.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be a fourth year undergraduate or graduate student studying urban planning, recreation management, landscape architecture or a related field.
  • Highly motivated and able to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in facilitating meetings or workshops preferred.
  • Reliable transportation
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with mapping tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to be productive in a fast-paced, multi-dimensional work environment.
  • Proven adaptability, flexibility, and creativity.
  • Aptitude and self-motivation for continuous learning, professional growth, and development.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, as well as collaboratively in a group setting.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Clear support for the firm's mission, values, and operating paradigm.

Work Arrangement:

This temporary part time internship will take place between the months of June-August 2024, but may lead to a long-term opportunity. This intern will need to work approximately 20-25 hours per week. Hours are subject to change based on project need and can be flexible to accommodate the intern's academic calendar or other commitments. This internship requires possession of a dependable mode of daily transportation, enabling the intern to actively participate in office-based responsibilities as well as on-site engagements in the Prince George's County area. Interns that resides in Prince George's County is preferred.
