The intern should be available to work in our Washington, DC office, with a potential of some remote opportunities. The work structure will be flexible and determined by project needs

Position Purpose

This project intern will work for our Venues team, a specialized practice group within Brailsford & Dunlavey that focuses exclusively on the planning and development of sports and entertainment facilities. Over the course of 30 years, we have completed more than 200 venue projects that include stadiums, ballparks, and arenas. Our venues portfolio includes nationally recognized projects that are market-responsive, with a focus on long-term sustainability, fan experience, and financial value. The intern will play a dynamic role on the project team by focusing on research, data analysis and synthesis for current client engagements while also supporting the Venues team on long-term initiatives.

Position Responsibilities

  • Perform data collection and analysis (including research, focus group leading and reporting, in-person interviews, telephone interviews, survey design and analysis, space planning, financial modeling, and internet research) to gain market insights with purpose and precision.
  • Synthesize, translate and effectively communicate complicated information to prepare clients for effective decision-making.
  • Develop accurate and organized presentation decks, financial models and other project deliverables to support the team’s effective storytelling and development of recommendations, as well as the decision-making of institutions.
  • Engage and collaborate with internal and external contacts to support the project team in critical thinking and the development of recommendations.
  • Deliver quality control and client satisfaction activities specific to his/her assigned projects.
  • Furthering the company's research and development efforts by identifying new analytical tools, strengthening existing models, and discovering improved ways of doing business.
  • Perform other duties as assigned with the effort and skills necessary to contribute to our continued growth.

Position Requirements

  • Must be a current or upcoming fourth-year undergraduate student or graduate student studying business, economics, finance, planning, architecture, construction management, sports management or related field.
  • Directly related work experience in real estate, urban planning, economic development, finance, or construction is highly desirable.
  • Highly motivated.
  • Able to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting, prioritizing and responding to day-to-day issues as required.
  • Detail-oriented yet capable of strategic thinking.
  • Proven ability to work well with all levels and types of facility-related professionals.
  • Proven adaptability, flexibility, and creativity in supporting multiple managers.
  • Ability to establish and accurately maintain data management and other record keeping systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to client satisfaction.
  • Ability to be a proactive self-starter who thrives within a team structure.

Work Arrangements

This long-term part-time internship may lead to a full-time opportunity with the Venues team. This intern will need to work approximately 25 hours per week. Hours are subject to change based on project need and can be flexible to accommodate the intern's academic calendar or other commitments.
