As both a first ring and new growth suburb with a revitalized downtown, development activity in the City consists of greenfield, infill and redevelopment. The Current Planning Manager leads a diverse team of professionals in a collaborative development review process including representing the Division and the Planning Commission at City Council.
The Division will be responsible for updating the City's Unified Development Ordinance to facilitate efficient development with predictable and flexible standards that support a high quality of life, improved options for mobility, environmental sustainability, a range of housing options, and economic growth in line with the City's new Comprehensive Plan, FrameworkOP.
Responsibilities:
Oversees Current Planning Division work activities and supervises Current Planning staff. Coordinates the following activities: agendas for Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals, the review process of land use and development plan applications, preparation of staff comments for Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals and City Council meetings, Planner of the Day program and divisional web presence. Consults with developers, architects and general public regarding zoning, land use and specific site plans for proposed development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in planning, landscape architecture, urban design or a related field.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- AICP certification and a bachelor's degree or license in a related field may be substituted for a Master's degree.
- Five to eight years urban planning experience with 2 years supervisory experience preferred.
No City residency requirement.
Must successfully pass a background check, drug screen, physical exam and essential functions test.
Normal Work Hours: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Mon.-Fri.
Salary Range: $97,289.93 - $116,747.50
