This position will require the selected candidate to report to the HCD Sacramento Headquarters office at least two (2) days per week upon hire. Hybrid telework schedule considerations can be discussed during the interview.

Reporting directly to the Director of HCD, the Senior Advisor will use their housing and community development policy expertise to offer advice and counsel on a wide range of critical issues; research and analyze policy, data, and regulations to support their strategic recommendations to the Director; and aid in the development of strategic plans to address California's housing and community development needs. In leading Department stakeholder engagement efforts and interagency collaboration, the Senior Advisor will require a high level of political acumen and interpersonal communication skills to work closely and build relationships with leaders in the areas of government, development, nonprofit organizations, advocacy groups, and academia.

Statewide travel up to 20% will be required to attend conferences, meetings, and events in support of the Director. The position will travel on average of two (2) to three (3) times during some months, while other months may require less. Most events require a travel duration of one (1) to two (2) days in length.
