If you are interested in expanding and developing your town and community development planning skills while working in a team-orientated department, you may want to consider joining the Town of Branford! This position is responsible for coordinating and, in conjunction with the Town Planner/Director, performing reviews of subdivision, site plan, and special permit applications for commercial, recreational, industrial, and residential development proposals. The position involves significant responsibility and requires the ability to provide explanation, technical advice and information to prospective developers, the public, attorneys, engineers, and other Town staff on matters relating to land use and development. You would also assist the Town Planner/Director and other professional staff with various planning, development and conservation related projects including implementation of the 2019 POCD (which includes a TOD plan and Coastal Resiliency Plan), preparation of amendments to land use regulations, and grant applications.

A bachelor's degree in planning or related field and municipal experience (preferably in CT) in reviewing land use approval applications; reading and interpreting site plans, drawings and specifications; interpreting and explaining complex planning/zoning regulations, ordinances, reports and studies; and effective written and oral communication skills would be of interest to us. GIS experiences and intent to obtain AICP are desirable.
