REPORTS TO: City Manager
WAGE: $100,000.00 - $165,000.00 depending on experience
Overview:
Grantsville City seeks a dynamic, experienced Community Development Director to lead our Building, Zoning, and Engineering Departments. Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and supervise the daily operations of the Building, Zoning, Planning, Code Enforcement, and Engineering departments.
- Administer and enforce the City's zoning ordinance and development codes.
- Compile all financial data necessary to provide an accurate annual operating and capital budget for the Department; controls and approves department expenditures.
- Review development proposals, site plans, and subdivision applications for compliance.
- Manage the City's general plan updates and long-range planning efforts.
- Coordinate with developers, engineers, and contractors during project planning and construction.
- Serve as a key liaison between the City and Planning Commission, City committees, developers, engineers, contractors, and community members.
- Support and advise the Planning Commission and other City committees.
- Collaborate across departments to promote smart, sustainable growth.
- Offer guidance and information to the public on zoning, land use, and permitting processes.
- Develop and manage department budgets, staffing, and performance evaluation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in community development, planning, or municipal government.
- Strong working knowledge of land use regulations, building codes, and development review processes.
- Proven leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working effectively with elected officials, developers, and the public.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in a related field.
- AICP certification or equivalent professional credentials.
- Familiarity with Utah land use laws and municipal planning processes.

Work Schedule:
The typical work hours for this position are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday. Additional hours will be required as this position is responsible for attending City Council meetings and other meetings as necessary.

- Grantsville, UT 84029: Relocate before starting work (Preferred)
