The Active Transportation and Safety Program Manager is responsible for managing core planning activities as assigned, including a wide variety of technical analysis, coordination, and reporting related to active transportation and transportation safety. Primary responsibilities of the position include delivering tools, resources, and technical assistance to member communities to support their transportation planning and projects specifically related to pedestrian, bicycle, trail, and safety planning; coordination with MORPC team members and external partners including ODOT, ODPS, FHWA, and other key federal, state, and local stakeholders. The Active Transportation and Safety Program Manager works independently or as part of a team and supervises other full-time staff and interns. The position is supervised by the Associate Director or Director.
Acceptable Experience and Training:
- A bachelor's degree and four (4) years of experience in planning, engineering, public policy, or a related field is recommended. This should include two (2) of those years having involved supervision of other engineers or
- A master's degree and/ or professional certifications like Professional Engineer (PE) or members of American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is
- A master's degree may be substituted for two (2) years of non-supervisory
- Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams of technical and or analytics-focused members across interagency departments in completing projects is strongly
