About MAG
The Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) is the metropolitan planning organization and the regional council of governments for the Phoenix metropolitan area, serving a vibrant region of more than 5 million people. Established in 1967, MAG brings together 27 cities and towns, three Native nations, and Maricopa and Pinal counties to develop collaborative solutions on issues that touch every resident.
MAG is governed by a Regional Council of elected officials representing the 32 member agencies, making it a respected convener and trusted voice on policies that shape the future of Arizona's fastest-growing region.
The Position
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of MAG, appointed by and accountable to the MAG Regional Council. This role provides vision, strategy, and leadership to advance MAG's mission and oversee its diverse programs and services.
The Executive Director:
- Provide executive leadership and implement policies set by the Regional Council.
- Guide the development of long-term strategic goals, objectives, and performance metrics across transportation, human services and environmental, and community initiatives.
- Manage the agency's budget, resources, and federal funding streams to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with elected officials, senior government leaders, and community stakeholders.
- Lead and mentor MAG staff, fostering a collaborative and innovative workplace culture.
- Represent MAG at public meetings, conferences, and regional forums.
