PLANNING MANAGER
Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic planning professional to lead our award-winning planning team. The Planning Manager will manage a team of planners providing outstanding service to our municipal clients on projects including comprehensive plans, downtown plans, development codes and more. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of leading innovative planning projects for municipal clients and developing and mentoring aspiring planning professionals.
Location
This position will have the opportunity to work remotely the majority of the time, but will be asked to attend quarterly in-person meetings held across Texas. Residence within 3 hours of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex is preferred.

You'll have success here if you value clear processes and feel qualified to do the following things:
- Utilize Basecamp, Google Workspace, MS Office, Dropbox, and other common tools to communicate and collaborate with a remote workforce.
- Utilizing internal contract/accounting software (BillQuick) to prepare and manage budgets and invoicing for projects.
- Utilize and improve project management SOPs to keep projects on budget and schedule and to coordinate project teams efficiently.
We train our team to help them succeed, and everyone on our team helps with our success. In this role, you'll be accountable to hit the following numbers each week:
- Average personal weekly utilization > 60%
- Maintain Planning Team Realization Rate =100%+
- Total accounts receivable over 45 days = $0

Qualifications

- Proven experience as a consultant for municipal clients
- Deep understanding of or experience in a municipal planning department
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage a planning team
- Experience successfully marketing and selling planning projects to municipal clients
- Planning project management experience in a variety of planning project types including comprehensive plans, downtown plans, small area plans, code writing - required
- Extensive network and relationships with planning professionals in Texas cities and beyond
- A reputation within the planning profession as a leader in developing innovative plans and codes
- A constant learner who is committed to personal and professional development
- Work has been awarded or recognized within the industry
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and tasks
- Discretion and trustworthiness when handling confidential information
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge and past experience with Adobe products (Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) for document layout and design preferred, but not required
- Knowledge and past experience with EOS preferred, but not required
- Knowledge and past experience with BQE Core or similar accounting package preferred, but not required
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Planning or closely related major - required
- Master's Degree in Planning or closely related major - preferred
- AICP certification - required
- CNU-A certification - preferred
