The City of Marysville is seeking a Community Development Director to help guide the future of its vibrant 76,209. Ideally situated with the Cascade mountains to the east, Puget Sound to the west, and the Snohomish River and Ebey Slough to the south, Marysville offers unparalleled access to natural beauty and year-round outdoor recreation. Despite its rapid growth, the city retains its small-town charm while benefiting from proximity to major economic hubs such as the Port of Everett and Boeing Field. Marysville's downtown is undergoing an exciting revitalization to create a more walkable, connected core, and the 476,000-square-foot Lakewood Center serves as a retail and commercial anchor for the region. The City of Marysville is a full-service municipality supporting a population of 76,209 across 20 square miles. For 2025, the City operates with a $213 million budget and a dedicated team of 389 full-time employees. Marysville functions under a strong mayor form of government, with executive leadership provided by a full-time Mayor and policy direction from a seven-member City Council — each elected at large. Mayor Jon Nehring has served in this role since 2010, providing steady and experienced leadership. City Administrator Jennifer Stapleton joined the organization in July 2024, bringing a fresh perspective to the City’s executive team.
