JOB DESCRIPTION

The City of Fairmont is seeking an engaged, strategic Community Development Director who is passionate about moving the city forward! Reporting to the City Administrator, this position will organize and direct the full range of community development operations as they relate to planning, zoning, and economic development; residential and commercial ordinance administration; property maintenance codes and enforcement; lakes management; and personnel supervision.

The typical work hours for this position are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday with the requirement to work additional hours as needed.

Qualifications for this position include a bachelor's degree in community planning, economic development, public administration, or related field and five years of progressively responsible experience in planning, economic development, community development, housing, and/or redevelopment, including some supervisory experience. Preferred qualifications include AICP certification; CEcD or EDFP certifications; and a master's degree in community planning, economic development, public administration, or related field.
