Job Summary
The Current Planning Manager is responsible for the management of the Planning Department's current planning functions, including development review and zoning review.
Essential Job Functions
- Oversee planning staff and manage their work activities
- Collaborate with relevant departments such as building, code enforcement, engineering, long-range planning, and public works to promote efficiency and effectiveness in cross-departmental operations
- Review and determine the completeness of development applications
- Engage with applicants, community members, and/or local groups to address planning related matters
- Schedule applications timely before the Technical Review Committee, Board of Adjustment, Planning Commission, and Walton County BCC based upon the type of application presented and the requirements of the code
- Provide proper notice prior to all hearings on development applications
- Adhere to all time limits set by the code for governmental action
- Monitor the progress of all development applications through the review process and is available to respond to the queries of interested people
- Participate in amendments and updates to the Walton County Comprehensive Plan and the Walton County Land Development Code
- Conduct regular staff meetings and communicate appropriate information to planning staff
- Provide regular training of current planning staff ensuring consistency of reviews and correct application of Land Development Code and Comprehensive Plan requirements
- Create and manage the quality control of all documents generated by reporting staff
- Prepare and deliver presentations before the Walton County BCC and other government boards
- Reviews and approves timesheets for payroll
- Adheres to work schedule and attendance requirements, including nights and weekends
- Performs other work as directed and required
