JOB DESCRIPTION

By assisting the City of Kirkland's Planning & Building Department in the performance of their duties, the Graduate Intern is given the opportunity to learn about City Planning and the functions and activities of municipal government. This position serves as an entry-level position designed to expose the student intern to operational, budgetary, and policy functions managed by the department. The intern will assist team members on existing or new projects and will gain work experience to increase their ability to compete in the workforce for other entry-level positions.

• Assist with the implementation and promotion of projects related to the City's Work Plan.
• Assist with drafting reports, memorandums, and presentations to advance the Planning & Building Department and City Council priorities.
• Undertake research projects to assist with the development or advancement of priority program.
• Fosters a positive and supportive work environment; promotes equity and inclusion in the workplace, contributing to an environment of respectful living and working in a multicultural society.
