Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, an Am Law 100 firm, is seeking a Senior Land Use Planner to join its Real Estate, Land Use, and Environmental Practice Group in the Downtown Los Angeles or Orange County office. There is only one opening.

We are seeking a senior land use planner to join the firm's sophisticated land use practice serving high-profile real estate developments. The candidate will work on complex and cutting-edge projects across a wide spectrum of asset classes in California.

The candidate should bring directly applicable planning expertise and the desire to learn in a fast-paced and professional environment. The ability to think strategically, multitask, exercise solid land use judgment, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines is critical. Strong planning research, clear writing, and succinct communication skills are also required to work with attorneys, staff, clients, and government officials.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Land Use Planning or a related field and 5 to 7 years of professional work experience in planning, zoning review, and development permitting in Southern California. Direct experience working for municipal planning departments, other planning agencies, or market-leading planning firms is desirable. An interest in local and state politics and land use policy is also beneficial.
