The City of Temecula Community Development Department is seeking a qualified Associate Planner II with experience in long-range planning and project management. The ideal candidate is a motivated, detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of advanced planning principles and their role in the City’s comprehensive General Plan Update.
This position requires the ability to manage multiple projects, balance competing priorities, and adapt to shifting deadlines. Responsibilities include analyzing housing and related legislation, coordinating across departments, and preparing planning recommendations. Familiarity with regional and quasi-governmental agencies such as the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) and the Western Riverside Council of Governments (WRCOG) is desired.
The successful candidate will have experience with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), including document preparation, review, and submittal. While focused on long-range planning, this position also requires knowledge of current planning practices and development application processing.
Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills are essential. The Associate Planner II will join a collaborative team committed to supporting Temecula’s long-term growth and quality of life.
This position may be filled as an Associate Planner I or II based upon the candidate’s education and experience.
Salary Range
Associate Planner I
Hourly: $43.51 - $55.69
Associate Planner II
Hourly: $48.03 - $61.47
