MHS Planning & Design is seeking a Planner to work in the Dallas or Tyler, Texas Office and in a team environment. The primary line of planning work at MHS is comprehensive and park planning, along with landscape architecture, and commercial/residential engineering. We are a diverse, multi-discipline group and this professional will coordinate with other disciplines in completing projects along with developing client relationships. Project work will include developing Comprehensive Plans, Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plans, Feasibility Studies, Strategic Plans, Commercial & Residential Developments, and State and Federal Grant Applications. This individual will conduct public engagement sessions and present at city meetings. Day-to-day activities may include plan development, report writing and document production, data analysis, preparing computer generated maps, and developing graphic elements to convey ideas and planning elements. Other responsibilities may include developing RFQs/RFPs, submitting zoning applications, and attending City meetings.
Responsibilities
Support senior staff with master planning projects and grant applications
Conduct public engagement sessions, develop citizen surveys, analyze results
Present at citizen and city meetings
Production of Master Plans, Comprehensive Plans, RFPs/RFQs, Maps, etc. to support client projects
Support engineers and landscape architects with research and site analysis
Develop commercial and residential developments
Project management and weekly/bi-weekly meetings with clients
Travel to clients for meetings, city inventory, etc.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in community/urban planning, landscape architecture, or similar field
3 to 5 years of working experience preferred (public or private sector)
AICP and/or other certifications/registrations preferred (and/or AICP Pilot Program)
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign
Working knowledge in Esri ArcGIS Pro
Excellent organization, communication, and written skills
Maintain effective communication with project team members, and able to handle 5 to 6 projects simultaneously
Ability to work at a multi-discipline company in a collaborative project team setting
Positive attitude and a strong work ethic
An interest in outdoor recreation and creating innovative public spaces
