JOB DESCRIPTION

What You Will Be Doing:

The Plans Examiner reviews structure plans for compliance with codes and ordinances as adopted by the City. This is accomplished by reviewing building and structural plans and specifications for conformance to building codes and laws; processing residential, commercial, and construction permit applications; and responding to code and building procedure questions. Other duties include performing technical and administrative tasks in support of the building inspections division.

What You Bring To Us:

  • Up to two (2) years of relevant experience
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Plans Examiner certification within one (1) year of employment.
  • Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature that may be obtained with advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. College, vocational, business, technical, or correspondence schools are likely sources. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training up to and including a two (2) year associate's degree.
