JOB DESCRIPTION

The Planning Division of the Development Services Department invites you to join a collaborative team as a Senior Planner guiding the work of the Current Planning section. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to lead and mentor staff, coordinate effectively within and across departments, and will have the opportunity to direct and guide development within one of the fastest-growing cities in California. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience with plan review; the development and review of staff reports and ordinances; implementation and interpretation of codes and planning documents; presentations before community groups, commissions, and Council; and the California Environmental Quality Act.

The current vacancy is a regular, benefited and full-time position; the employment list that will be established from this recruitment may be utilized to fill future regular, limited-term, or temporary vacancies in the City for the duration of the list. The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, with occasional evening availability required to attend Council and commission hearings. A flexible schedule may be available, and the Department offers up to two days per week of remote work for employees who have completed the probationary period.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:

• Two years of responsible professional planning work similar to that of an Associate Planner with the City of Roseville.

AND

Training:

• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with major course work in planning, environmental studies or a closely related field.

AND

License or Certificate:

• Possession of a valid California driver's license by date of appointment.
• Possession of an American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) designation is desirable.
