TOWN PLANNER/ DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR (E-5)

The Town of Cheshire seeks a qualified individual to fill the position of Town Planner/ Development Coordinator (E-5). Under general direction, the Town Planner is responsible for directing the planning, zoning, environmental services, zoning enforcement and land use regulation compliance and the coordination of land use development plans and administration of the Cheshire Plan of Conservation and Development. Administrative responsibilities include professional and technical work involving a broad range of municipal planning and development functions to assist various town departments, boards and commissions, the public and the business community.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: A bachelor's degree in planning, economics or public administration or closely related field is required. A master's degree in planning is strongly preferred as well as AICP certification (or obtained within 2 years). Five years of experience in planning, zoning, and wetlands with a minimum of two years of supervisory experience in the land use field. Skill in directing and participating in complex planning activities and presenting technical information. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with officials and the general public. Ability to supervise and manage an office. Salary Range: $110,000 - $140,000 Depending upon qualifications. 35 hour work week.
