The city's comprehensive plan includes goals and policies promoting the use of renewable energy sources. It promotes energy efficiency in the design and construction of new housing and increasing the use of renewable energy (Goal 3-2). It also encourages installation of renewable energy systems (Policy 3-2.1.3) and building orientation that fosters the use of alternative energy sources such as solar energy (Policy 3-2.1.5).
