The city's municipal code permits solar energy systems in all districts, and its building code provides green building program standards that include provisions for solar-ready construction. It offers green building program requirements that include providing conduit for future installation of solar systems (§7.94.060, §7.94,070). It exempts solar collectors on roofs from all zoning permit requirements and permits them in all districts (§8.04.070.D). The municipal code allows the extension of solar collectors and other building equipment into required setbacks (§8.36.060.C).
